Safety and physico-chemical data are required to meet current legislative requirements such as REACH, UN Transport of Dangerous Goods Classification, Aerosol Directive, ATEX Directive and Material Safety Data Sheets. It is therefore, important to have your products tested in order to ensure you comply with legislation.
Here at Kindlow Safety Services are fully equipped laboratory can conduct a variety of tests to meet the specifications required by law including; sustained combustibility, flash point and aerosol flammability testing.
The Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals (REACH) is a European Union regulation which applies to substances either manufactured or imported into the EU in quantities of 1 tonne or more per annum. The deadline of REACH registration depends on the classification and the tonnage band of a substance. There have been several REACH deadlines, in 2010 manufacturers and importers must have registered known substances of quantities over 1,000 tonnes per year, in 2013 manufacturers and importers must have registered substances of quantities of 100 tonnes per year.
The upcoming REACH registration deadline is the 31st May 2018 and concerns manufacturers or importers who have not yet registered from outside the EU above one tonne but not more than 100 tonnes per year. Kindlow Safety Testing are able to perform the range of physico-chemical tests producing data required for REACH compliance.
Aerosols offered for transport are subjected to the classification procedures. The classification procedure has to be undertaken before a new product is offered for transport.
The classification for aerosols, spray aerosols and foam aerosols can be “extremely flammable”, “flammable” or not classified as a flammable aerosol. In order to determine the classification of an aerosol various criteria have to be met.
